Falling into the Pit of Reality

Falling into the Pit of Reality

Disappointment comes when assistants realize the brokenness of the community, the lack of understanding and compassion of its leaders, sometimes their hardness or rigidity or their fear of intervening in difficult situations. They see the painful reality: L'Arche is not that wonderful, it is not perfect. These assistants fall from the skies of their ideal into the pit of reality. And the more they idealized the community, the more the fall is crushing.
